Mobile communications and fleet tools provider PeopleNet Inc., Chaska, Minn., has launched a new capability that enables carriers to give supply chain partners instant visibility to their loads.

Shipper View provides fleet location information in real-time on the Internet.
According to PeopleNet, Shipper View is the outcome of feedback from PeopleNet customers who requested increased visibility for their shippers. The capability allows users to view fleet location and route information by logging on to PeopleNet's fleet manager interface. Carriers assign their shippers, or anyone else in the supply chain, a password to access this secure interface via the Internet. PeopleNet customers then "share" their map of fleet information, which can include location, proximity to a pre-defined landmark, and arrival/departure message notification from a pickup or drop off site.
PeopleNet said the new feature is available at no additional charge to all PeopleNet customers.
