Penske Used Trucks has opened a commercial truck dealership in Torrance, Calif., where it will sell used light-, medium- and heavy-duty trucks, trailers and related equipment, marking a new strategy for Penske.
Penske says it is opening new used truck dealerships in response to strong demand from retail and dealership customers who want trucks that are on-site and ready to go. The first used truck dealership opened in suburban Charlotte, N.C., last November. Penske also plans to debut similar used truck dealerships in Arizona and Georgia in 2014.
Facts about the new dealerships:
Each location features a dedicated sales team to assist customers with truck selection, specs and purchases
Dealerships will have up to 100 trucks, trailers, and semi-trucks on-site
Locations will also be able to sell Penske’s full inventory of used trucks available online
Some locations, including the new Torrance, Calif., dealership, will have dedicated areas where Penske trucks that are coming in off lease or that are being retired from its truck rental fleet will be placed through a rigorous maintenance inspection and serviced prior to sale.
Penske Used Trucks sells late-model used commercial trucks to retail, wholesale, used truck dealers, and corporate truck fleet buyers. Penske sells used sleeper and day cab semi-tractors, straight trucks, flatbeds, refrigerated vans, trailers and more.
Penske sells light-duty, medium-duty and heavy-duty commercial vehicles including those from Ford, GMC, Hino, Isuzu, Freightliner, International, Peterbilt and Volvo.
Penske Used Trucks is a business unit of Penske Truck Leasing.
