Paccar Parts announced a program to incentivize the sale of its idle reduction, engine-off cooling and heating technology provided by leading automotive and truck supplier Webasto.
During the months of May and June, Paccar Parts will be offering the Webasto BlueCool Truck CARB-approved bunk cooler for sale at a significantly reduced cost to their North American Kenworth and Peterbilt dealerships. In addition, Paccar is providing a discount and volume incentive for a Webasto heater. This combination of a BlueCool Truck cooler and a Webasto Fuel Operated Heater will allow the truck's bunk to be warmed and/or cooled year round with no need for the truck engine to be idled and for truck owners and operators to offset rising fuel costs.
BlueCool Truck is an innovative and revolutionary energy storage device that harnesses the energy of the truck when it's in motion and stores it in a patented storage core. After the driver turns the truck's engine off and is ready for a comfortable rest period, he uses the BlueCool Truck air handler to direct the desired amount of cool air into his bunk. In this discharge mode, the BlueCool Truck system uses no fuel and produces no emissions.
Both BlueCool Truck and FOH, in addition to being extremely environmentally friendly, offer substantial fuel savings. For instance, BCT is not an electrical system, requires no additional batteries and consumes five times less fuel overall than an auxiliary power unit. The fuel operated heater provides engine-off savings of approximately 19 gallons of fuel over a 20 hour period and pays for itself in only a few months of use.
"Webasto BlueCool Truck and Fuel Operated Heater are the cleanest, most fuel efficient technologies available today and provide a driver with economical and ecological one-two punch," said John Thomas, vice president of marketing at Webasto Product North America. "The Paccar offer makes it even more attractive for Kenworth and Peterbilt truck owners and operators to beat the fuel crunch."
