Delfour Corp., Markham, Ont., Canada announced that P&O Cold Logistics has implemented a cross-dock procedure at its Dallas facility for a major national retail chain
using Delfour's SmartFreight transportation management system as the software platform.
P&O Cold Logistics is a division of the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Group and an supplier of temperature controlled distribution services throughout the U.S., Australia, New Zealand and Argentina. Twenty-six facilities in the U.S. make P&O the fourth-largest refrigerated warehouse operator in the country.
SmartFreight is a fully featured modular solution for controlling and tracking the flow and distribution of goods on the road, in the yard, on the dock and in the warehouse. SmartFreight integrates with Delfour’s SmartEnterprise software.
At P&O’s Dallas location, SmartFreight uses the retailer's purchase order to manage the receipt of the retailer's cross-dock orders for goods from various vendors and other distribution centers, and to merge arriving product with merchandise stored on-site. Incoming shipments are designated as generic cross-dock product without specific item codes, but with lot numbers that contain the purchase order number.
SmartFreight manages the building and routing of the loads as well as the exchange of the relevant EDI notifications.
