The Oregon Department of Transportation has received $775,000 in federal grants from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration to buy 12,500 more transponders for Oregon's Green Light truck preclearance system.

The funding was reassigned from savings in other areas.
Oregon Green Light automates weighing operations at 21 locations throughout Oregon, letting trucks that carry transponders identify themselves remotely, then weigh by going over scales in the roadway, passing the weigh station at highway speeds. The Green Light system currently serves more than 1,200 companies, with over 17,000 trucks enrolled. ODOT issued its one-millionth bypass to a truck in February.
