According to the announcement, Orbcomm and Fleet Management are offering a satellite solution at or below cellular prices. Fleet Management is targeting the North American market with more than 130 dealers for sales and support. The company also offers subscription options through its Fleet Management Acceptance Corp. The new service was launched with approximately 20 fleets.
Besides tracking and reporting, the MLT 300 series includes dispatch, exact routing, DOT reporting, stop durations, idle times, mileage, automated maintenance scheduling and optional two-way messaging.
Orbcomm operates a constellation of low-earth orbit satellites providing near universal coverage.
