OOIDA Signs Discount Deal With Western Star
Members of the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Assn. will now be able to take advantage of collective purchasing discounts on Western Star trucks
Members of the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Assn. will now be able to take advantage of collective purchasing discounts on Western Star trucks.
An agreement signed by Western Star President Robert Enright and OOIDA President Jim Johnston on Dec. 10 is the first alliance between OOIDA and an OEM that gives small business owner-operators the kind of truck pricing previously available only to large fleets.
Under the new program, owner-operators will save thousands of dollars on a specially spec'ed Western Star Constellation 4964EX. The truck has a 260-inch wheelbase (132 inches bumper to back of cab), and is equipped with a 475-horsepower Caterpillar C-15 engine, Eaton Fuller 13-speed transmission, 370 rears, Jake brake, tilt/cruise, 150-gallon polished aluminum fuel tanks, aluminum wheels, "Mesa" upholstery package, Bostrom "Talledega" seats, and many other features preferred by owner-operators.
"This specially equipped OOIDA Western Star weighs in at less than 17,400 pounds, making it more than just competitive. It confirms that Western Star is the preferred owner-operator truck in North America today," said Enright.
OOIDA members can also custom spec a new Western Star or take delivery from available corporate stock and still save money under the new program.
