The Descartes Systems Group Inc., a provider of logistics solutions, has announced that Old Dominion Freight Lines, a carrier in the LTL market, has selected the Descartes Routing and Scheduling applications, Fleetwise Dispatch and Fleetwise Route Planner.

The announcement expands Descartes' relationship with the regional and interregional motor carrier.
As an LTL carrier managing a fleet of more than 2,600 trucks, Old Dominion seeks out innovative technology, according David Congdon, president and chief operating officer. "By leveraging Descartes Fleetwise in our operations we anticipate a 10% efficiency gain while continuing to improve our on-time delivery performance," he said.
With Descartes Fleetwise, Old Dominion gains in-the-moment visibility of shipment status, enabling the company to quickly respond to customer inquiries and potential delays in deliveries due to such factors as inclement weather or traffic congestion.
