Old Dominion Freight Line has implemented Intelek Technologies Corporation's StripMiner EDI Screen Scraper Software, which will be integrated with its enterprise transportation management and internal Electronic Data Interchange platform.
"EDI is a critical part of our data exchange offerings," said Thomas Hall, integration architect on the e-commerce team at the less-than-truckload carrier. "While our larger customers typically have their own EDI infrastructure, StripMiner makes it possible for us to work with smaller customers to manage EDI interactions much more effectively. It's a very good fit for us because it saves time and money, and lets us make EDI capability available to any customer easily, accurately and effectively."
StripMiner EDI Screen Scraper Software is a web-based load gathering software product that automates freight carrier load gathering from shipper and logistic companies' web sites using predefined processing rules to automatically accept loads or generate transactions.
The software already saves the Thomasville, N.C.-based fleet 20 hours a week by eliminating data retrieval and entry needs. According to Intelek, the tool can save as many as 40 hours of time spent previously programming an interaction with a customer's web content.
"StripMiner has meant an immediate reduction in the amount of time our staff spent monitoring customer web sites," Hall said. "That gives them the ability to focus on real issues and handle much more business as opposed to being bogged down with manual entry of information. The labor savings we've already realized in our LTL operation may also be extended to other Old Dominion business units."
