Oil Purification Systems (www.ops-1.com, developer of the OPS-1 on-board oil refining system, announced is has won a 2007 Excellence in Innovation Award for Excellence in Environmental Technology Development.
The awards are sponsored by the Connecticut Technology Council, the law firm Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge, and the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development. The company was recognized for the award based on its OPS-1 system, which virtually eliminates the need for routine oil changes in trucks, buses, construction and mining equipment, thus minimizing negative effects to the environment.
"We are very pleased to be recognized for this achievement in environmental technology development," said Mitchell Weseley, OPS president and CEO. "This honor tops off a tremendous year for us, in which our product saw widespread market acceptance and was selected by hundreds of companies who want to reduce costs in an environmentally sustainable manner. We greatly appreciate the support that we've received from the CT Technology Council and FastTrack program to achieve our goals."
Each year, the Connecticut Technology Council and the law firm of Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge select Connecticut companies most likely to succeed. These companies are then placed in a "virtual incubator" called the Innovation Pipeline Accelerator. The companies that show the most promise move into the FastTrack Program, where they receive training, support from selected service providers, introductions to customers, peers and funding sources, and are matched with mentors. Once a year, winners are selected from the FastTrack Program and recognized for the brilliant execution of converting an idea into a thriving business.
