Jim Hall, chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board, will be a featured speaker at the National Private Truck Council's annual Education/Management Conference April 30-May 3 in Tampa, FL.

Hall was appointed to the NTSB in 1993 and became chairman in 1994. His term expires at the end of 2002.
He has chaired safety forums on commercial truck and bus safety, the impact of fatigue on transportation safety, the effects of corporate culture on safety, and increased use of data recorders in all transportation modes. Hall, in fact, is a strong advocate of "black box" recorders on all commercial vehicles.
Other featured conference speakers include Pat Williams, senior executive vice president of the Orlando Magic basketball team; pro-football star and Vietnam veteran Rocky Bleier; veteran Chicago police detective and crime avoidance expert J.J. Bittenbinder; and change consultant Dr. Nate Booth.
Educational sessions will cover analysis of transportation alternatives, equipment purchasing and selling, ethical management, today's maintenance practices, and on-board communications.
Members of the NPTC Drivers Hall of Fame will share insights into the best practices of the best drivers. More than 130 exhibitors will participate in a trade show. A special "Women in Transportation Networking Breakfast" will promote communication among female transportation professionals.
