The National Truck Equipment Association has formed a new affiliate division, the Green Truck Association, as a way for fleets, manufacturers, upfitters, government agencies and other industry stakeholders to stay current with regulatory and industry developments.

The new group, which will launch in spring, will also help to expand and improve the market for green truck applications.

NTEA made the announcement at its Green Truck Summit this week.

"Creating an affiliate division specifically focused on green trucks is a natural extension of the work the NTEA began in this area with the launch of the Green Truck Summit a few years ago," said Andrew Outcalt, NTEA president and president of Meyer Products and Swenson Spreader. "As interest and demand for green products continues to grow within the work truck industry, we are positioning the association and our members to provide the support and insight needed to drive ongoing technology improvements and increase awareness of real-world applications."

The GTA will work towards increasing work truck productivity, improving fuel utilization and accelerating the adoption of green technologies. The group will also showcase green truck and technology developments, supply members with market data and technical resources and share news on green truck products and initiatives. The GTA will also provide members with a resource for legislative, regulatory and funding initiatives relevant to green truck development.

Membership is open to any interested business or organization. Members will be provided with a broad range of information on a regular basis through daily web site postings, e-newsletters, white papers, technical information, new product updates and research findings.
