Online logistics concern NTE has tapped William Heigl to help grow its private online trading communities.

Heigl was previously managing director of Pursuit Logistics in Woburn, Mass., a supply chain and event management company that he co-created in 1996.
A 22-year veteran in the logistics industry, Heigl's new position with NTE is vice president of strategic sales and he will supervise three direct reports focused on different regions in the U.S.
"Private communities have emerged as a powerful force for companies seeking to optimize their supply chains," said John Martin, NTE senior vice president of sales, marketing and business development, to whom Heigl will report. "Bill brings to NTE the leadership, credibility and strategic knowledge we need to take the next step in supporting our larger accounts. We're fortunate to have him on board as we help customers gain efficiencies, economies and control."
Earlier this year, NTE added private communities as a complementary service offering to its public Exchange service, its online marketplace in which buyers and sellers can transact and receive a host of benefits. With private communities, companies can work with NTE to establish customized e-marketplaces so they can receive comparable benefits. Transactions occur based on their business rules, with participation restricted to vendors, customers, distributors and others in their supply chain.
NTE has established several private communities and is in active discussions with dozens of other prospects, Martin said. The company expects private communities to be a dominant contributor to its revenue growth in the next year.
Before working at Pursuit Logistics, Heigl had a distinguished career in transportation sales management with both New Penn and Skyway Logistics. Earlier, he was a terminal manager with Transcon Lines and an operations supervisor with Roadway Express, where he started his career. Heigl attended the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Mass.
NTE is a privately held, B2B e-commerce company based in Downers Grove, IL.
