The National Private Truck Council has scheduled its annual Fleet Management Institute, featuring all new and updated material, Jan. 17- 21, 2004 at the Holiday Inn Select in Nashville, Tenn.
"As the scope and pace of change continues to accelerate at unprecedented levels, private fleet managers must look for new ways to enhance their operating knowledge and expand their personal and professional effectiveness," said Gary Petty, president and CEO of NPTC. "The NPTC 2004 Fleet Management Institute offers just such an opportunity."
The Institute is a concentrated, five-day learning experience, offering courses on fleet finance, operations, legal, regulatory and safety compliance, human resources, maintenance and equipment. The program draws from all-new content, or revised and upgraded material, which reflects the most current insights into best practices, benchmarking and operational excellence.
The subject matter has been completely revised to reflect state-of-the-art operational systems in the private fleet community. It will be presented by the industry's top private fleet management experts through a series of workshops, panel discussions, lectures and interactive formats designed to enhance the attendees' educational experience and ensure their grasp of key private fleet management disciplines.
"The core objective here is take-home value," said Petty. "Graduates of this institute who implement what they've learned can readily save their private fleets over $200,000 in annual operating costs."
Specific sessions will focus on strategic and tactical planning, justifying the private fleet, effective communications, leadership skills, private fleet financial models, lease versus buy, key performance measures, transportation alternatives, outsourced maintenance, optimization, life cycle costing, technology, scrap tire analysis, safety improvement strategies, accident investigation, a vehicle walk-around inspection and human resource management strategies.
The Fleet Institute, which is preceded by a full-day workshop to help candidates prepare for the Certified Transportation Professional certification examination, will also feature a tabletop exhibit.
For more information about the Fleet Management Institute or the special one-day certification exam workshop, visit NPTC's web site at www.nptc.org, or call Tom Moore at (203) 438-6244.
Information about the tabletop exhibit is available by calling Patti Burke at (703) 683-1300 x212.
NPTC is the national association exclusively representing the interests of corporate and business truck fleets. Fleet membership is for companies operating owned, leased or dedicated truck fleets as an extension or their primary non-trucking business.
