Bergstrom this month produced its 10,000th NITE (No-Idle Thermal Environment) unit. Over the past five years, Bergstrom's battery-powered no-idling solution has been installed in trucking cabs all across the country and the world.

The NITE Plus system can reduce the average truck's fuel usage by as much as 3,790 gallons a year, and save the owner more than $12,000 a year in reduced fuel costs and maintenance, based on the national average of idling 8 hours a day, 300 days a year and current fuel prices.

With the shipment of the 10,000th unit, NITE system users are now saving a total of 37.9 million gallons of fuel per year. That is equivalent to roughly 902,000 barrels of fuel, or 4,211 gasoline tanker trucks filled with fuel.

"We are incredibly proud of this achievement as well as our legacy and contributions to reducing harmful emissions and helping improve driver comfort on the road," said Bill Gordon, national director of aftermarket and director of global marketing. "This is a testament to the hard work of everyone on the NITE team and our dedication to innovative solutions that help drivers address the evolving emissions regulations and fluctuating fuel prices."

The 10,000th unit, a NITE Plus system, was assembled in the company's flagship manufacturing plant in Rockford, Ill.

Bergstrom began producing NITE units in 2004. In January of 2009, the company introduced NITE Plus, the next generation of is popular NITE system, designed to work without idling the truck's main engine. Combined with an optional compact air-heating system, NITE Plus offers drivers year-round comfort.

Bergstrom continued its innovative approach to no-idling solutions in February of 2009, when it partnered with Kohler® Power Systems to offer a hybrid power system, that combined the NITE Plus system with a KOHLER DC power unit.
