A member of the Teamsters 505 in Charleston, WV, committee negotiating with the local Coca-Cola plant is the focus of a federal government investigation for illegal strike-related activities.

The National Labor Relations Board has informed Coca-Cola Consolidated's attorneys that it will issue a complaint against the local union as a result of the union official making death threats to a working Coca-Cola employee.
The Teamsters may choose to admit to the charge and post a notice agreeing not to engage in further acts of violence or coercion.
"This is a very significant decision by the NLRB," said Coca-Cola spokesman Lauren Steele. "We have complained to Teamsters (local) President Ken Hall time and time again about the union's pattern of vandalism, intimidation and threats of violence.
"With the Teamsters Union's long and well-documented history of violence, we take it extremely seriously when a Teamsters official threatens to kill one of our employees. Thankfully, the federal government is taking it seriously as well," he said.
The company says union officials have ignored complaints about violence in the strike against the bottler, including shots being fired at Coca-Cola trucks.
