Wabco Holdings has established a new operating unit, specializing in remanufacturing electronic and mechatronic components as well as traditional mechanical products for commercial vehicles and passenger cars.

Wabco Reman Solutions, as it's called, is targeting new revenues in the market for environmentally-friendly, remanufactured parts. The unit will initially serve original equipment manufacturers and tier-one suppliers of commercial, passenger and agricultural vehicles in Europe and North America, with plans to expand into Asia eventually.

Wabco Reman Solutions will remanufacture Wabco components as well as fully connect with original equipment producers to remanufacture their parts.

"Wabco Reman Solutions represents an opportunity for significant growth as we will now participate in a $20 billion market which is expected to increase substantially in the coming years," said Jacques Esculier, Wabco chairman and CEO. "Legislation around the world continues to drive higher standards for cleaner, greener vehicles, and at the same time, new commercial vehicles continue to increase their electronic and mechatronic applications as technologies for safety and control systems further advance."

Operating as part of Wabco's aftermarket organization, Wabco Reman Solutions has established remanufacturing facilities in Stanowice, Poland, and Rochester Hills, Mich. Both factory sites are expected to be operational in September 2010.

Joe Kripli will serve as enterprise leader of the new unit, while Mike Dojcinovski will serve as operations leader. Kripli has 30 years of remanufacturing experience, including senior management positions. He is also president-elect of the Automotive Parts Remanufacturers Association, an industry group based in Virginia. Dojcinovski has eight years of remanufacturing experience, including senior management roles.

"Wabco Reman Solutions is powered by highly experienced leadership comprising senior managers with deep understanding of the remanufacturing business," said Nick Rens, Wabco vice president, aftermarket and trailer systems. "We have an outstanding initial response from major customers as they value innovation and quality to support them in their evolving remanufacturing strategies."
