New Penn Motor Express Inc. has introduced POOLTRAC, a new shipment tracking service for pool distribution shipments allowing customers to utilize the New Penn web site
to determine shipment status even before the shipment enters the New Penn terminal network.
Using a combination of information technologies, including Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and the Internet, the new service allows customers to track shipment status at www.newpenn.com from the time a load of pool distribution shipments is being consolidated at origin, all the way through to final delivery.
With New Penn's pool distribution service, customers consolidate a truckload of less-than-truckload (LTL) shipments destined to points in the Northeast, and then have a truckload carrier move the shipments to one of New Penn's 22 facilities for final delivery.
With New Penn's POOLTRAC, shippers pre-assign a tracking number and then transmit the shipment information via EDI to New Penn. Customers can then monitor shipment status updates on New Penn's web site.
New Penn's onboard computers provide real-time status updates of shipments that are out for delivery, en route to be delivered and currently being delivered. Updates from the driver are typically available at www.newpenn.com within seven to 10 seconds.
New Penn Motor Express Inc. is an independently operated subsidiary of Roadway Corp., a holding company dedicated to leveraging opportunities to expand the transportation-related service offerings available to customers through a portfolio of strategically linked transportation companies.
