Rand McNally's Transportation Data Management subsidiary and Integrated Decision Support Corporation (IDSC) have teamed up to provide Fuel Advice, a fuel optimized routing solution targeted to small fleets.
The new ASP solution will provide a route using Rand McNally's IntelliRoute Deluxe software, which has been optimized todeliver the least expensive route based on current fuel prices.
Fuel Advice will be marketed to small fleets through fuel network providers and other third parties via the Web site www.fueladvice.com. End users can access Fuel Advice from a Web browser, enter an origin and destination, and receive the best route together with where to buy the cheapest fuel.
Fuel Advice can also provide fuel-optimized routes through a dispatch interface system, mobile communications to cab, or wireless handheld devices.
End users receive IntelliRoute-based routes that have been optimized with current fuel price data. Third parties can add their fuel networks to the solution and market a customized Fuel Advice package to their carrier base as a value-added service. Individual carriers can maintain their own network discounts on the Web site.
IntelliRoute software is also used as the primary routing software for IDSC's Expert Fuel software system, marketed to larger carriers.
