New Features, New Fleet Customer for PeopleNet
PeopleNet Communications Corp., Chaska, Minn., has introduced a number of new features to its onboard computing and mobile communications systems and announced a new fleet customer

The announcements were made at the National Private Truck Council conference in Atlanta.
Among the system enhancements are:
-- Automatic capture of location and the fuel consumed during PTO (power take-off), idling and off-road events for fuel cost recovery allowed in some states and by the federal government.
-- Activity Standards based on recurring activities and dedicated routes, including travel times, stop times, average miles-per-hour and more.
-- eDriver Logs smart mode that can switch automatically between on-duty and driving status based on vehicle movement, starts and stops.
These and other new features are being provided during May to customer fleets remotely through PeopleNet’s over-the-air programming capability.
The company also announced that Affiliated Foods Inc., Amarillo, Texas, is equipping its entire fleet with PeopleNet's systems. Affiliated’s 145 power units haul produce, meats, bread and dairy products to 700 stores in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona and Wyoming.
Affiliated’s Tri State Baking Co. operates an additional 23 trucks that will also be equipped.
