Nebraska Transport Co. Inc., (NTC) headquartered in Gering, Neb., has acquired Tri State Freight Shuttle, located in Sioux Falls S.D. NTC is a truckload and less than truckload carrier (LTL) with 14 terminals located in
Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, Colorado, Wyoming and South Dakota.
Tri State Freight Shuttle, also an LTL carrier, has terminals in Minneapolis, Sioux Falls and Omaha, and serves a three-state area of Minnesota, Nebraska, and South Dakota.
Brent Holliday, owner of NTC, said, "This acquisition allows us to extend our service area quickly and efficiently by the purchase of another family owned business, with great service and high standards of customer service. It not only offers us the opportunity to expand service in our core area, but it allows our customers to now ship with NTC direct to Minnesota points, such as Minneapolis. It opens a new area for us, bringing to 11 the number of states that NTC serves direct for its customers."
Tri State Freight Shuttle owner Chad Koopsma said, "The merger of our two companies will solidify our presence in the regional market and allow us to grow in ways that we could not do on our own. NTC has the same beliefs and core values in business and we are proud to become part of such a quality organization."
NTC will combine the two companies' terminals in Omaha, and Sioux Falls, and maintain the terminal presently operated by Tri State in Minneapolis. In addition, employees of Tri State Freight Shuttle will be retained by NTC, and will bring the total number of NTC employees to 325.
NTC has been a family-owned regional LTL carrier since 1973, and has served the contiguous 48 states and parts of Canada through its truckload division since 1987.
