Country music performers Neal McCoy and Collin Raye will perform a concert free for truckers and their spouses tonight at Newport Communications’ Truckerfest 2000 at the Alamo Travel Center in Reno-Sparks, Nev.
Neal McCoy took home the Entertainer of the Year awards from the TNN/Music City News Country Awards two years in a row, 1998 and 1999. McCoy's stage presence has been called electrifying, a skill earned through years of intense touring.
Collin Raye also has a reputation for great stage presence. In 1996 and 1997 he was a nominee for the Country Music Association Male Vocalist of the Year. In 1998 he was a nominee for the Academy of Country Music Male Vocalist of the Year. He was only the eighth artist in the history of country music to see his first four albums achieve platinum status.
Truckerfest 2000, which runs through Sunday at 1 p.m., also features exhibits, free steaks for truckers, trucker games, a fireworks show Saturday night, and the kickoff show in the Newport/National Assn. of Show Trucks Stars & Stripes truck beauty competition series, sponsored by Freightliner and Chevron. For more information, visit the TruckerFest website.
