Navistar International Corp. has stopped shipping diesel engines to Ford Motor Co.'s Kentucky Truck Plant, a move that will most likely disrupt production of the F-Series SuperDuty trucks.

The Warrenville, Ill.-based engine maker is the exclusive diesel engine supplier for Ford's heavy-duty pickup trucks.
Navistar stopped engine production at its plants in Alabama and Indianapolis in response to a lawsuit filed by Ford last month. In the suit, Ford said Navistar did not pay its share of recalls for the six-liter Power Stroke diesel engines used in the trucks. Ford said it was subtracting its recall costs from payments it was making to Navistar.
Ford told the Detroit News Monday that the decision by International will not disrupt production of SuperDuty pickups "in the near term." However, the automaker would not say how long it could keep its truck lines running if the International holds out.
Navistar said it will stop making the 6.4-litre Power Stroke at its Indianapolis and Huntsville, Ala. factories, but added that the Huntsville plant will continue production for other customers.
