Navistar has honored 28 International Truck dealers with its International Circle of Excellence award. During the awards ceremony held recently in Washington, D.C., Navistar also honored Roberto "Bob" Swaine
, dealer principal of Camiones Especiales S.A. de C.V. in Mexico City, as the International Truck Dealer of the Year.
The Circle of Excellence program was established to recognize those International dealerships that achieve the highest level of performance in terms of operating and financial standards, market representation and customer satisfaction.
"This award is the highest honor an International dealer principal can achieve from the company," said Aida Tanaka, vice president, dealer operations. "The Circle of Excellence award recognizes the effort and dedication of all the dealership's employees. A highly skilled, professional staff is a critical success factor for any commercial truck dealership."
Navistar annually presents the International Truck Dealer of the Year award to only one of the more than 300 International Truck dealers and distributors throughout the world. The Dealer of the Year must be exceptional in all facets of the truck distribution business, including sales, parts and service. The International Dealer of the Year is also characterized by his or her distinguished level of investment back into the business, including investments in personnel, business processes and facilities.
Navistar chose Camiones Especiales as the International Dealer of the Year because it was among the highest performing International Truck dealers for sales and aftermarket support in 2009. During one of the most difficult truck markets in years, the distributor delivered more trucks than any other Mexican distributor. Camiones Especiales also built a new facility in 2009, expanding its market coverage to support the International brand.
"Bob Swaine has a rich history with the International brand," said Carlos Currlin, managing director, Navistar Mexico. "Bob's father, Desmond Swaine, started Camiones Especiales in Mexico 54 years ago. Bob joined the business in 1978 and has been a driving force behind the growth of International in Mexico. With more than 20 million people in Mexico City, Camiones Especiales serves the largest and most competitive marketplace in Mexico."
