The Truckload Carriers Assn. is hosting a series of three audio conferences entitled "Navigational Tools for Working With Owner-Operators," with sessions scheduled from noon to 1:30 p.m. (ET) June 10, Sept. 23 and Nov. 18.
Navigating the regulations of working with owner-operators can be an overwhelming task. In this series of interactive audio conferences, participants will have an opportunity to hear and ask questions from two legal experts from the firm of Scopelitis, Garvin, Light and Hanson, P.C., a full-service law firm that serves trucking and transportation-related clients nationwide.
Scopelitis provides business and legal advice to more than 4,000 transportation-related clients in the 48 contiguous states.
The first session will discuss charge-back documentation, carrier administration fees and markups, and off-settlement sheet purchases.
Legal experts will also discuss fuel forced purchases, fuel discount and rebate programs and saving toward an IFTA audit. Compensation definition of gross revenue, accessorials and pass-through charges and actual versus mileage-guide miles.
The second session will address the lease purchase agreement and escrow fund issues, including maintenance reserves, fuel-tax credit, calculation of the rate of interest, excess mileage charge and freedom to lease to a different carriers.
The final session will cover insurance and indemnification challenges including commercial auto liability (personal injury and property damage), charge-backs, required disclosures and administrative fees and markups.
The series is targeted toward CEOs, CFOs, Operations, Human Resources and Safety personnel
Audio conferences are easy, convenient and cost effective, according to the TCA. Participants dial in on a speakerphone and have as many employees as they want listen in -- all for one price. Individuals also have the ability to ask questions during the audio conference, making the experience interactive as well.
To register, or for further information, call (703) 838-1950.
