The NATSO Foundation has tapped Noel Perry, transportation economist from Transport Fundamentals, to provide valuable insight into the anticipated need for Diesel Exhaust Fluid at an educational session June 5 in Nashville, Tenn.


Perry will present on how DEF will affect the specific travel lanes and trucking segments between 2010 and 2015. The presentation will take place during a DEF conference organized by the Petroleum Equipment Institute and travel center group NATSO and will be open to conference attendees.

"The transportation sector is facing a significant learning curve as the 2010 emissions standards approach," said Lisa Mullings, NATSO Foundation president. "The questions we hear most often are, 'When will DEF be needed, where, and by whom?'"

Perry's speech is meant to field industry concerns about the federal emissions standards for 2010, which will require most new trucks to employ selective catalytic reduction systems. This will subsequently involve the switch to DEF.

Perry served for 30 years in research positions at Schneider National, Cummins and CSX before coming on board at Transport Fundamentals. The NATSO Foundation is the research, education and public outreach arm of truckstop and travel plaza association NATSO.
