The Descartes Systems Group introduced MobileLink: Commerce, a wireless routing and scheduling application for real-time event management and financial settlement in delivery operations.
Designed as an upgrade to Descartes' existing Routing and Scheduling solutions, MobileLink: Commerce is available immediately for use with either Descartes Roadshow or Descartes Fleetwise logistics software.
The company says the system is ideal for direct delivery operations such as home office delivery services, online storefront delivery services and direct store delivery services. It synchronizes delivery and payment events with customer service and billing systems at point of delivery. Through the use of MobileLink: Commerce, route drivers are able to capture signatures for proof-of-delivery, settle payment for goods and print invoices on demand.
Descartes designed MobileLink: Commerce to be compatible with a number of different devices running the Pocket PC operating system. Operating on Mobitex, CDPD (cellular digital packet data), DataTAC and GSM (global system for mobile communication) networks, MobileLink: Commerce does not require software upgrades for customers currently using Descartes Roadshow or Fleetwise Dispatch solutions.
