Tony and Robin Bartels, a husband and wife team from Kahoka, Mo., were named Best of Show winners at the 22nd annual Rotella SuperRigs Truck Beauty Contest
late last month at the Bosselman Travel Center in Grand Island, Neb.
The decision was made after judges reviewed the vehicles of more than 90 working class trucks representing 24 states and three Canadian provinces.
Judges said the Bartels’ orange and white, clean and detailed 1994 Peterbilt 379 with a matching 2002 Fontaine lowboy trailer was a standout champion.
The contest, sponsored by Shell Rotella T heavy duty engine oil, had contestants competing for $10,000 in cash and prizes, plus an opportunity to appear in the 2005 Rotella SuperRigs calendar. Judges scored the rigs on exterior appearance, design, detail and workmanship.
Everyone competing received a complimentary gift package, including a gallon of Shell Rotella T 15W-40 multigrade engine oil, a gallon of Shell Rotella ELC Extended Life Coolant/Antifreeze, a tube of Shell RETINAX LC grease, a gallon of SPIRAX HD Gear Oil, a SuperRigs hat and t-shirt, and a Shell Rotella T mini-maglight.
