Milan Express, a less-than-truckload carrier based in Milan, Tenn., will deploy a fully integrated fleet management solution using Qualcomm’s OmniTracs mobile communications system, Agentek's AgentDelivery and AgentManager mobile and server software solutions, and Symbol Technologies' PPT-2800 Mobile Computer.
This solution will allow Milan customers to track shipments real-time via the Internet from pick-up to delivery and provide customers with complete visibility of delivery signatures within minutes, as well as the actual location of the shipments and estimated time of arrivals.
Milan Express vehicles will be equipped to provide complete geographical fleet coverage and will enable fleet drivers to transmit complete manifests with electronic signatures, real-time, in 30- to 75-byte satellite message packets. This efficient data transmission solution allows the fleet to dramatically increase the amount of information that can be utilized in a real-time environment, allowing dispatchers, vehicles and customers to react immediately to opportunities.
Milan Express plans to deploy the system over its 440-vehicle LTL fleet, providing customers with improved delivery accuracy and enhanced customer responsiveness. This combined solution will provide seamless tracking and reporting of delivery schedules, increased responsiveness to shipment opportunities and instantaneous access to comprehensive customer information. Additionally it will eliminate paper copies of delivery receipts, manage real-time exceptions to shipment overages, shortages, and damages (OS&D), and enable two-way communications with back-office systems such as dispatch, accounting and maintenance.
