Nov. 11 – Ernst & Young LLP and Automotive News have announced 20 finalists for the prestigious 1999 Automotive News PACE (Premier Automotive Suppliers’ Contributions to Excellence) Awards, and Meritor’s revolutionary RHP Highway Parallelogram trailer air suspension is one of them.
The RHP system, designed for sliding tandem trailer applications, offers a unique parallelogram tandem design that replaces two separate suspensions on a frame with a single unified frame bracket. The result is a lighter, more compact system that offers better trailer stability, an improved ride, and the elimination of “dock walk.”
The 20 finalists move on to the second stage in the process, which includes a site visit to evaluate both the innovation and management teams of these companies. Recipients of the 1999 PACE Awards will be announced at an awards ceremony at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, MI, on March 1.
Past PACE recipients in the heavy duty truck industry include Eaton’s Spicer Clutch Div. for the first adjustment-free clutch, and Dana’s Spicer Transmission Div. for its electronically controlled truck transmission. For more information, visit the PACE web site at http://www.ey.com/pace.
