MercuryGate International, Apex, N.C., and SMC³ of Atlanta have announced a strategic relationship to provide an electronic bill of lading system for LTL carriers.
SMC³ provides LTL software. The system would be used with the MercuryGate web-based logistics service that launched in November.
According to a joint announcement, the system will enable users to create and rate bills of lading then share information with all interested parties. They will be able to print reports, print tracking labels, receive notification of carrier pickup, and scan and/or print documents.
MercuryGate offers logistics transaction services as an ASP (Applicaton Service Provider) over the Internet. MercuryGate says its online software initiates and manages logistics transactions for shippers, carriers, freight forwarders, and third party logistics companies.
