McLeod Software, Birmingham, Ala., recently received an award for its new LoadMaster Enterprise software documentation from the Society for Technical Communication.
STC is a nonprofit organization aimed at supporting technical communication. Technical manuals and documentation were submitted for judging by organizations and individuals throughout the country. Publications are rated based on four factors - writing, editing, design & graphics, and integration - all judged in the context of the purpose, content and organization.
Critical comments from several of the judges about McLeod's software manual include: "This is a beautiful and thorough piece of work - very professional;" "Writing is crisp and conversational.A good use of color;" and "The field explanations are extremely well written. An excellent effort for producing such a document."
The documentation was written as instructive manual for McLeod Software's new LoadMaster Enterprise software. LoadMaster Enterprise is a completely integrated transportation management software system that is customizable and interfaces with most popular mobile communication, mileage and fuel systems. It is platform-independent and database-independent, and offers Client/Server distributed processing and Graphical User Interface.
