McLeod Software Corp., Birmingham, Ala., has been named a preferred vendor for safety products by the American Transportation Research Institute.

The preferred list was announced after the completion of the U.S. Department of Transportation-funded Hazardous Materials Safety and Security Operational Test was completed.
Since 2003, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Intelligent Transportation Systems Joint Program Office have funded and managed the Hazardous Materials Safety and Security Operational Test. That test evaluates the safety and security of technologies and procedures currently in use. It identifies the most cost-effective ways to protect a truck’s load and documents best practices. The test evaluates safety and stability of tracking and communications technologies, driver authentication technologies, electronic shipping documentation, onboard computers and electronic cargo seals.
A summation of the tests concluded in August offers a preferred product vendor list which includes McLeod Software Corp.
