Tripmaster Corp., Arlington, Texas, announced that SYSCO Corp., one of the largest food-service suppliers in the nation, has selected the Tripmaster DT-240/GPS onboard computer

and software for its private delivery fleet.
When completed, the SYSCO order will bring the number of Tripmaster units in the SYSCO fleet to more than 7,500, according to Tripmaster.
SYSCO will use the DT-240/GPS to provide complete trip recording, event recording, electronic DOT logs, automated fuel tax reporting and automatic vehicle location reporting with GPS.
The systems will also provide onboard navigation, wireless messaging and vehicle positioning information. Other participants in the SYSCO program include Systems Application Engineering and Symbol Technologies Inc.
Systems Application, a Symbol Premier business partner, will furnish the delivery applications software, the Symbol PDT-8146 handheld equipment and portable printers. Working with SYSCO's IT staff, Systems Application will also provide additional software integration services.
Symbol will provide the radio frequency communications networks, network maintenance and the Symbol handheld units' maintenance.
"Some SYSCO locations have been using Tripmaster equipment for more than 15 years,” said Richard M. Geib, Tripmaster president.
Many of the existing Tripmaster systems will be upgraded to the DT-240/GPS configuration. New units will be added in a rollout program and continue until all vehicles are equipped. Additional information on the STS program will be released as designated benchmarks are achieved during the rollout.
