The National Business Group on Health honored Mack Trucks and Volvo Trucks North America for their employee wellness programs.
The manufacturers both received Platinum Awards at a ceremony on June 24 in Washington, D.C.
Mack's wellness program is meant to increase employee productivity and reduce medical costs for the company. Employees can receive health risk assessments in the form of personalized, confidential reports that analyze lifestyle habits and provide immediate feedback to improve or maintain health. The program also includes on-site health screenings, health and wellness campaigns and fitness centers at Mack facilities.
The goal of Volvo's program is to promote a healthy workplace and help its employees make better choices about their health.
The Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles awards honor employers that have embraced a culture of wellness and are working collaboratively to improve their workers' health, productivity and quality of life. The program's goal is to be a catalyst to encourage all employers to take action. A total of 63 companies received award at Platinum, Gold and Silver levels.
"More than ever, a healthy workforce is critical to helping America's large employers compete in the global marketplace,"said Helen Darling, president of the National Business Group on Health.
