Mack Trucks Creating Larger Parts Center
Mack Trucks is leasing a new, larger parts distribution center in Elkridge, Md., from ProLogis, a leading global provider of distribution services and facilities
Mack Trucks is leasing a new, larger parts distribution center in Elkridge, Md., from ProLogis, a leading global provider of distribution services and facilities.
The 314,000-square-foot facility, expected to be ready this fall, will be located off Interstate 95. It will be the larger of Mack’s two master North American parts distribution centers. The other is located in Chicago.
"ProLogis is providing us a facility that fits seamlessly into our distribution network," said Mack’s executive director of parts distribution, Dennis Sholl. "This new building will allow us to manage over 45,000 parts and ship on average in excess of 350,000 pounds of product daily to destinations around the world."
Sholl also pointed out that the Baltimore-Washington corridor is key for the company's North American supply chain, since it is an overnight drive to two-thirds of the United States.
Mack will move the 122 jobs from its 210,000 square-foot distribution center in Severn, Md., to the new facility when it is completed.
