Mack Trucks Inc. has introduced a new addition to its family of T300 Maxitorque ES transmissions -- the T310.
Designed primarily for highway applications, but suitable for many on/off highway jobs as well, the 10-speed T310 is available in the Mack Vision, CH and Granite model vehicles.
"With the addition of this new product, we now have a complete lineup of transmissions consistent with our core value of application excellence," said Tom Kelly, vice president of marketing.
The new T310 can be matched with any of Mack’s ASET engines and is ideal for daycab tractors and small to mid-size sleepers, providing local and regional haul customers a fully integrated Mack powertrain.
Shifting is accomplished via a conventional 10-speed range box pattern with 39% steps, which are easily reached with the smooth shifting found throughout the T300 family. The 19.04 overall ratio of the T310 gives it a wide operating range. Highway cruising is tackled with the .73 overdrive top gear ratio, while the 13.81:1 first gear ratio provides low speed gradability.
With its lightweight aluminum case and optimized gear design, the T310 weighs in at 665 pounds. SAE six- and eight-bolt PTO mounts, which operate at 70% of engine speed, are available on the right and left sides, respectively.
The triple countershaft design of the T300 family has a proven track record for reliability and durability. This unique method of distributing load between three shafts insures long life by lowering the stress on the components, and is backed up by the industry’s best highway warranty – five years/750,000 miles. And this warranty coverage is available using either mineral or synthetic oil with a drain interval of three years/500,000 miles.
