Commerce Secretary Gary Locke is the latest speaker to join a stellar presentation line-up at the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association Legislative Summit, April 29-30.
More than 100 motor vehicle parts supplier industry senior executives are expected at the event.
"We are pleased to have the secretary on our agenda for the Legislative Summit agenda this year, along with Tom Donohue, president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and Rep. Sander Levin of Michigan," said Bob McKenna, president and CEO of MEMA. "All of these individuals will offer unique perspectives on important issues that will affect the future of our industry," he continued. "We welcome their thoughts, insights and the opportunity to work together moving forward."
Donohue will address the group on Wednesday, April 29, and Locke will speak at the Summit breakfast on Thursday, April 30. Levin (D-Mich.) will receive the MEMA annual Joseph M. Magliochetti award at its Congressional Reception and Supplier Fair on the evening of April 29.
Summit participants also will make visits to Capitol Hill on April 30 to meet with senators, members of Congress and their staffs.
"This year's Legislative Summit is about bringing the supplier community together to educate lawmakers on the importance of our industry and how suppliers are contributing to national and local economies and making today's vehicles safer and more fuel efficient," McKenna said. "These are challenging times for our industry and we welcome an open discussion of issues critical to our members."
