Lectronix Inc., which provides integrated electronics technology, software and product design services for the automotive market, is now adding new capabilities to its T7000 driver information system that helps

commercial truck drivers improve the speed, safety and efficiency of routing.
Many commercial trucks today face restrictions on routing their cargo. Height and weight restrictions, requirements for transporting hazardous materials, and rules for vehicle size or type can all impact route calculations. The T7000 now includes logistics data that itemizes these requirements for more than 7.5 million miles of roads, including interstate, state and municipal roads in both the United States and Canada, and 10.5 million points of interest.
The system is based upon the Tele Atlas Logistics digital map database, which includes data for the National Network and state roads in all 50 states, 1,800 U.S. municipalities and Canadian coverage in more than 70 top cities, with "last-mile" routing attributes to better enable accurate navigation on local road networks.
Additionally, to help improve commercial truck efficiency and reduce harmful emissions from commercial trucks, the T7000 now also includes an environmental "score card" display. Utilizing key data collected from the vehicle, the T7000 combines J1939 characteristics (idle time, fuel economy, speed, shifting and emissions), as well as tire pressure gauging, GPS, accelerometer and optimal route.
Information is analyzed and combined in convenient displays on the T7000 touch screen monitor. Combined with an interactive camera system and the latest in analog and digital audio, fleets and drivers can enjoy the latest in vehicle safety and entertainment.
With the T7000, heavy truck OEM's and fleets also have the power to customize dashboard electronics to increase safety and fuel efficiency while providing drivers with an interactive display geared towards their particular needs. Trip computers, vehicle information displays and splash screens can easily be customized per the requirements of OEM's and fleets, and new applications can be added to allow for product differentiation between carriers.
