Stars & Stripes Truck Show Events held its 7th truck beauty show at the Truck Show Las Vegas June 7-9, featuring a lineup of eye-popping trucks and trailers sporting unique paint schemes and plenty of chrome.

Mother Nature was cooperative this year, with below average temperatures on Tuesday and Wednesday, when show contestants were getting their rigs washed and polished before bringing them inside the Las Vegas Convention Center where truck show attendees could admired their hard work.
Tommy and Kim Turner, Cynthiana, Ky., won the Best of Show trophy in the combination class with their 1995 Teakwood and Beige Peterbilt 379, "El Dorado" with a 2003 Transcraft stepdeck trailer. The Best of Show bobtail trophy went to Michael Most, Michael Most Trucking, Phoenix, Ariz., with a 1998 Yellow Freightliner Classic XL, with the mural theme "Legends & Heroes."
"Main Street," a 2007 Pearl White Kenworth W900 shown by McRoberts Trucking, Homer, Neb., won the top trophy in the Limited Mileage Bobtail competition while Chuck Prigge, Sandvik Trucking, Valley Center, Calif., took the best Limited-Mileage Combination award with a "Kaotic," a 1996 White/Purple Flamed Peterbilt 379 and white Wildside Transporter.
This year's event also feature the youngest contestants to not only compete, but to win a trophy, as cousins Markie Pounds, 18, and Colton Pounds, 14, picked up hardware in two classes each. Colton's father, Mark Pounds, says once the trucks were parked at the show prep lot, the young men took over, working until 3:00 a.m. Thursday morning, just seven hours before the judging started.
Another unique wrinkle in this year's show was a mother and son, each competing with their own truck. Both Paula Fimbres and son Alex Fimbres, III placed in their respective classes and went home with trophies.
The next Stars & Stripes truck beauty show will be held at the Alamo/Petro Truck Stop outside Reno during the Hot August Nights extravaganza Aug. 9-11.
