The National Labor Relations Board has filed a complaint against Atlanta-based SAIA Motor Freight Line, charging that the company has illegally interfered with and tried to intimidate employees at a Texas terminal who want to join the Teamsters union.

The Teamsters has been trying to organize the company's approximately 350 drivers, warehouse and dock workers employed by SAIA in Grand Prairie, TX, since June. In July, the union filed the first in a series of unfair labor practices with the NLRB.
According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the NLRB regional office dismissed several other allegations by the Teamsters. However, the agency charges the company officials violated federal labor law by telling employees that the Grand Prairie terminal would be closed if they voted to join the union.
Company officials say they will ask for a hearing before an administrative law judge, and are confident they will prevail.
SAIA is one of four non-union regional companies owned by Yellow Corp.
