Knights Of The Road Host Virginia Jamboree
This Saturday, Oct. 30, Knights of the Road Foundation will hold its 1999 East Coast Truck Rodeo & Jamboree Halloween Bash fund-raiser at Big Charlie's Truck Plaza on Route 13 (Northampton Blvd.) in Virginia Beach, VA
This Saturday, Oct. 30, Knights of the Road Foundation will hold its 1999 East Coast Truck Rodeo & Jamboree Halloween Bash fund-raiser at Big Charlie's Truck Plaza on Route 13 (Northampton Blvd.) in Virginia Beach, VA.
The Foundation is a nonprofit organization that offers help to the spouses and families of truck drivers who have died or been disabled. The group offers a family relief fund, a scholarship fund for the education of minor children, and a re-education fund for disabled truckers or spouses left behind.
The event will feature a dunk tank for a DOT official. Entry in the truck beauty contest and driver roadeo is included in the $20 ticket, with cash prizes provided by the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Assn. Those wishing to enter the contest should plan to arrive by 7 a.m.
Gates for the general public will open at 9:30 a.m., and the driver competitions will begin at 10. Activities include country music, a karate demonstration, a "Lil' Miss Knights of the Road" beauty pageant for girls ages 6-8 and a concert by Marty Stuart and his Rock & Roll Cowboys.
Local radio station WCMS will be broadcasting live from the site all day.
