Kenworth Truck Co. held its fifth annual World's Best sales meeting last weekend in Indianapolis. At the meeting, the truck maker honored top truck salespeople and managers from dealerships around the nation.
"Kenworth's World's Best meeting honors all those truck salespeople who have achieved by providing outstanding service and support to Kenworth customers," said Tony McQuary, Kenworth assistant general for sales and service.
Top honors went to Colin Petrie of Bay Area Kenworth in Oakland, Calif., and Jim Hawkins of MHC Kenworth-Kansas City, Mo. Petrie was named Salesman of the Year for the second consecutive year. He sold 637 new Kenworth trucks during 2000. Hawkins was selected Kenworth's Medium Duty Salesman of the Year for selling 101 Kenworth T300s last year. It was the fourth consecutive year Hawkins has won the award.
Kenworth also gave regional sales awards. Earning recognition for highest percentage of sales quota were:

West: Keith McKenzie, Trebar Kenworth.
Winners for highest unit achievement were:
Canada: Norm Gossett, GreatWest Kenworth;
Central: Bob Bowden; MHC Kenworth - Dallas;
Northeast: Fred Brutsche, Liberty Kenworth;
Southeast: Skip Parsons, South Florida Kenworth;
West: Colin Petrie, Bay Area Kenworth.
Regional sales managers of the year included:
Canada: Peter Greenwood, Tandet Kenworth;
Central: David Cupell, Wichita Kenworth;
Northeast: Tom Jennings, Tri-State Kenworth;
Southeast: Randy Schweitzer, Truck Enterprises;
West: Robert Barrett, Trebar Kenworth.
In addition, the company formally inducted three top salespeople to the Kenworth 200 Club. Colin Petrie, Bay Area Kenworth; Bob Bowden, MHC Kenworth-Dallas, and Ralph Campbell, MHC Kenworth-Oklahoma City each sold at least 200 new Kenworth trucks last year.
