Keisler Engineering, which manufactures manual overdrive transmission systems for classic Ford, GM and Chrysler vehicles, is now gearing up to expand its inventory to include replacement transmissions
for late model medium-duty trucks.
With the recent purchase of a portion of GM’s transmission manufacturing line at its Muncie, Ind., facility, Keisler is now poised to offer replacement transmission systems for ¾-ton to 1-ton trucks.
Shafi Keisler, president and owner, was one of the first in the industry to recognize the demand for overdrive transmissions for the restoration market. Over the last decade as hot rods soared in popularity, so have fuel prices. Keisler was quick to meet this trend with a complete line of five- and six-speed Tremec transmissions engineered with overdrive.
The advantages of overdrive—improved fuel mileage, torque, and long-term engine protection—have kept business brisk since the company’s inception in 1991. Keisler’s growth in the restoration market is assured by offering the most complete application coverage of manual-to-manual and automatic-to-manual overdrive transmissions.
Keisler says, “We are in the process of moving the entire medium-duty manufacturing line from Muncie to Tennessee for the purpose of providing the highest quality overdrive transmission systems for ¾ to 1 ton trucks. The need for fuel economy and performance is equally great for this exploding market.”
