J.J. Keller Offers Discrimination Awareness Program
J. J. Keller & Associates Inc. has introduced its Discrimination Awareness Program: A Practical Guide & Training Tool, a multimedia program designed to help human resources professionals educate themselves and their employees about discrimination

At the core of the program is a 250-page guide that includes the regulations and laws applicable to discrimination, court cases that define and interpret the application of these laws, best-practice information, and sample forms and checklists, all designed to help HR professionals gain an understanding of discrimination and how to respond to situations before they become lawsuits. Areas addressed include definitions and types of discrimination, proper procedures to use during the hiring process, investigating a complaint, and handling employee discipline in the event of a discrimination situation.
Discrimination topics covered in the program include age, military status, national origin, family and medical leave, labor unions, disability, religion, harassment, race, gender and more. Other concepts related to discrimination are also covered, such as disparate impact, retaliation, adverse impact, diverse workplace, and vicarious liability. The guide explains these concepts and how they affect the HR professional's environment.
The second element of the program is a training component - a CD-ROM packed with useful tools to help employees recognize and perform their roles while keeping discrimination out of the workplace. Three training tracks allow trainers to customer their presentation for supervisors, employees or new employees.
