J.B. Hunt Transport posted record second-quarter 2006 net earnings of $55.3 million, compared with $54.6 million in the prior year quarter, total operating revenue of $838 million, up 10 percent over
the $759 million for the second quarter of 2005.
Operating income for the current quarter increased slightly to $95 million from $93 million for the same quarter last year.
J.B. Hunt’s Intermodel sector recorded revenues up 14 percent to $352.9 million from $309 million in Q1 2005. Its operating income was up 13% to $43.4 million, compared to $38.5 million for the same period last year.
The Truck sector showed a revenue increase of 5 percent to $258.4 million over $246 million last year. Operating income for the second quarter was down 6 percent to $25.6 million, compared to $27.1 million in Q2 2005.
“This was another quarter of strong returns and excellent cash flow, which we put to good use by repurchasing approximately 7.8 million shares of our stock,” said Kirk Thompson, company president & CEO.
