Interstate 10 To Reopen After Bridge Collapse
Interstate 10 near the border between California and Arizona will reopen to traffic this week after the bridge was washed out earlier in the week by flooding.

Interstate 10 at the Tex Wash Bridge near the border between California and Arizona will reopen to traffic on July 24th at noon, according to the California Department of Transportation. The bridge was washed out by flooding earlier in the week, caused by unusually severe weather.
Crews from Caltrans will strengthen the westbound side of the bridge in order to allow two-way traffic with one lane in each direction. Once Interstate 10 is opened, minor work will be performed on the westbound side and work will begin to fix the eastbound lanes.
Caltrans was able to speed up the opening of Interstate 10 at the Tex Wash Bridge because of emergency contractual procedures which quickly awarded the project to Granite Construction on the 20th, just a day after the collapse.
In the aftermath of the storms, Caltrans also inspected other bridges in the area and found that two others needed minor repairs. The repairs on these other bridges were performed concurrently and will be completed on July 22.
