Internet Parts Purchasing System Tested
Velox Logic announced that it has successfully completed the first phase of a live beta test of its eVMRS i-Parts Counter, a browser-driven Internet parts procurement system
Velox Logic announced that it has successfully completed the first phase of a live beta test of its eVMRS i-Parts Counter, a browser-driven Internet parts procurement system.
Murphy-Brown (formerly Carroll's Foods), a 1,000-truck fleet in Warsaw, N.C., is the testing fleet. Bob Slaughter, the Director of Fleet Maintenance, the first fleet manager to test the new eVMRS i-Parts Counter system, said the beta test process has been very successful.
The initial rollout of the eVMRS i-Parts Counter system started in early December 2001 at the Murphy-Brown Rose Hill, N.C. repair shop. The on-line parts supplier participating in the beta test is the FleetPride division in Goldsboro, NC. Chicago-based FleetPride supplies the majority of the heavy-duty repair parts to all of the Murphy-Brown repair shop locations in North Carolina and Virginia.
Using a PC with a browser-driven Internet connection, the Murphy-Brown purchasing department uses the eVMRS i-Parts Counter system to submit a daily on-line electronic purchase order to FleetPride via the eVMRS web site. The FleetPride on-line parts catalog resides on the eVMRS web site and is accessed by Murphy-Brown via the Internet through a user ID and password protected connection. In addition, e-mail transaction notifications are automatically transmitted by the eVMRS system each time an electronic purchase order is actually sent to FleetPride, when an order is opened or updated, as well as when the parts are shipped to a Murphy-Brown ship to location. A complete order history record for both the supplier and buyer is accurately maintained in the eVMRS system including tracking back orders, cores, returned parts, cancelled orders, and partial shipments. The standard order history reports can be tailored to a specific customer need for trend analysis.
The next phase of the live beta test at Murphy-Brown is to roll-out the eVMRS i-Parts Counter technology to multiple Murphy-Brown repair shop locations. Also planned is to complete the development and testing of the application program interface connectivity between the eVMRS i-Procurement process and the shop management software system used by Murphy-Brown.
Velox Logic also announced it has signed an agreement with PartsRiver Inc., a provider of parts data management and analytical solutions for the industrial equipment marketplace.
PartsRiver and Velox Logic agreed to support each other’s customers with their respective parts catalog content and fleet purchasing management solutions. Velox Logic delivers over the Internet to parts suppliers, fleet buyers, and heavy-duty repair shops a unique suite of e-Commerce Internet purchasing management tools, including an on-line parts catalog and i-Parts Counter transaction solution including order history reports.
