International Truck and Engine Corp. has received the prestigious 2002 LEAD Award from the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.
The award was presented to the company in recognition of its integrated strategic planning process, of which Geac Computer Corp. Ltd.'s System21 software is a key component.
"Geac's System21 software has contributed greatly to us winning the LEAD award," said Jim Schlusemann, director of information technology for International's Engine Group. "Over the past five years, it has not only met our expectations regarding Y2K compliance and consolidated IT management, it has assisted in generating considerable production and cost efficiencies.
"In addition, Geac's strong service and support have helped us to better plan our business processes and maximize our technology investments."
The Society of Manufacturing Engineers and its Computer and Automated Systems Assn. (SME/CASA) present the Leadership and Excellence in the Application and Development of Enterprise-Wide Integration (LEAD) Award each year. Winners are companies that have developed and implemented innovative, leading edge initiatives to integrate, streamline and improve manufacturing, planning and collaborative systems. International Truck and Engine Corp. received the award in the category of large companies.
International, a leading producer of mid-range diesel engines, medium trucks, heavy trucks and severe service vehicles, has utilized the System21 ERP suite of manufacturing, supply chain and financial applications to manage information technology and enterprise needs for its 5,000-person Engine Group since 1997.
"One of Geac's goals is to help companies like International achieve leadership in their respective markets," said Peter Quinn, general manager Geac Americas, System21. "As organizations look to balance the need for increasing innovation and collaboration, while keeping IT budgets in check, they are leveraging their ERP systems more than ever to maximize their existing technology investments and achieve competitive advantage. This award is the latest example of the success organizations are finding by extending their investment in Geac software."
Geac Computer Corp. Ltd. is headquartered in Markham, Canada, and is a global provider of business-critical software and systems solutions.
