The iNet-Blue Corp., Boulder, Colo., has introduced the Tra-X-all BlackHawk System for tracking valuable and/or dangerous cargo.

In its announcement, iNet said the BlackHawk system is especially well-suited for un-tethered trailers, reefers, and containers not already fitted with GPS or other security and location systems. According to the company, BlackHawk is "reusable."
“By reusable we mean that the unit’s intended purpose is to be attached to the cargo/container/trailer only for the period of time when it is necessary to track and secure the shipment,” said iNet marketing director Kurt T. Kyvik.
“The BlackHawk unit may remain with the shipment as it is transferred to different modes of transportation. The BlackHawk unit may be owned and monitored by the shipper/consignee as opposed to being owned and monitored by the carrier/shipping company. Once the shipment has been completed the unit is detached from the mounting bracket and is available to be attached to another shipment,” Kyvik said.
The system can monitor from six weeks to over a year, depending on reporting requirements. Reporting rates can be as short as 10 minutes, hourly, daily, or longer; while breach of security events can trigger immediate alerts.
The BlackHawk System includes automatic e-mail alarm notification and the ability to page a unit for location and route histories. Users can view locations and security conditions over the Internet on a map at street-address detail. BlackHawk communicates over a variety of satellite and ground-based networks.
BlackHawk uses wireless sensors for monitoring motion, shock, temperature, and other parameters, including radiation leakage inside a trailer.
